NUTRITION POLICY 2008/2009

NOTE: Canalta's Nutrition Policy closely adheres to the School District's Policy and Regulation.

1. School policy governing the sale and distribution of food items during school events will be based on nutrition guidelines and information available from the Northern Health Authority and the Province of British Columbia.


2. Canalta will provide educational programs for students that promote health and nutrition. All food and beverages sold and distributed will be reflective of nutrition education.


3. Canalta's Nutrition Policy will reflect the food selection chart provided by the Northern Health Authority.


4. Canalta will promote the serving of foods from the "serve most" and "serve sometimes" lists. There will be exceptions for special days or fundraising events.


5. Canalta will continue to be a nut and peanut free school.


6. Pricing of healthy food choices will be favorable.
