In response to the needs of families navigating the uncertainty created by the COVID-19 pandemic, School District 59 (Peace River South) reintroduced a K – 9 Distributed Learning option in September of 2020.  The program offers a blend of paper-based and online instruction for K – 3 students and online learning for students in grades 4 – 9.

SD 59 is pleased to announce that the program will continue in September for the 2021 - 2022 school year.

The K – 3 programs, while using paper-based resources, have introduced online resources for mathematics and language arts.  Weekly check-ins, read-alouds, and reading assessments using video conferencing (Zoom and Teams) has added a critical element to the programs, providing a virtual connection between the students and the teacher.  The grade 4 – 7 programs are also benefiting from similar virtual connections.

South Peace Distributed Learning School’s elementary and middle years programs are now taking registrations for the 2021-2022 school year.  Information about the school and school programming, as well registration can be obtained by calling:

  • For Elementary (K-7):  250-782-0122
  • For Middle Years (Grade 8 - 9):  250-782-5585
