Skills Canada BC Logo

Students from around the Peace Region will be competing in the Skills Canada Regional Competition on Friday, February 14, 2020.  The regional competition brings together a network of educators, labour, industry and provincial partners to promote careers in trades, technology, apprenticeship and other career opportunities.  The competition celebrates and awards students for excellence in their selected trade, technology or competition event.  Students are competing to attend the Skills Canada BC Competition held in Abbotsford, BC in April and the top winners from there are invited to the National Competition which will be held in Vancouver, BC in May.

The Skills Canada Regional Competition is being hosted in the Trades Training Centre at Northern Lights College Campus in Dawson Creek on February 14th, 2020.  Spectators are welcome to attend.  Opening ceremonies will begin at 9:00 am and the award presentation will be at 4:00 pm.

School District No.59 (PRS) Grade 9 students are attending the event to participate in career exploration activities.  Students will be exposed to post-secondary programs in Arts and Sciences, Health Sciences, Trades and Technologies.  Grade 9 students will also participate in industry tours of Triple J Pipelines, Encana and Louisiana Pacific work sites.

Skills Canada Regional and Provincial competitions are organized by a team of committed volunteers and hosted by secondary and post-secondary institutions.  Thank-you to the many volunteers and partners to make this possible.
