May 5, 2021 is a National Day of awareness for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls (MMIWG) in Canada.
To raise awareness of this day, Tansi Friendship Centre in Chetwynd has created a display along the fence of Spirit Park in honouring Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls.
Nawican Bergeron Youth & Cultural Centre in Dawson Creek has hung red dresses in front of the centre, plus both Nawican Centres have window displays to honour Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls. The Centre is also hosting an awareness walk (following COVID protocols) starting at 3:30 pm from the NAR Park. Everyone is welcome to attend the walk.
