Little Prairie Elementary
Athletics: Our school has a volleyball and basketball team coached by Little Prairie teachers. Last year we were fortunate to even have a Handball team in term 3 coached by Mr. Tonge.
Outdoor Classroom: We believe in providing authentic experiences and teaching kids about the sustainability of food. The pictures here show the excited faces of children as we begin building our outdoor classroom.
Outdoor Education: We regularly utilize what our area has to offer. We have a huge outdoor space surrounding our school. We offer our kids outdoor field trips throughout the school year.
Family Involvement: We love having parents visit the school! We have regular learning exhibitions throughout the year where students showcase their learning by talking about their learning. We believe a 21st Century Learner can talk about why they’re learning something as well as the learning process.
Leadership: We believe in promoting positive leadership at Little Prairie. Some examples of leadership last year were: The grade 6 class planned and organized Orange Shirt Day for the school. Grade 2 students participated in a coding station organized by the grade 4/5 class. The grade 7 class created engaging coding lessons for the primary students. The grade 7’s developed learning intentions, learning outcomes and taught the lessons. The younger kids loved it! We also have a recycling team who diligently gathers up the school recycling each week.
Primary Literacy: We take pride in our outstanding literacy results. Our team of teachers work collaboratively to provide research based literacy practices so that our kids are competent readers and writers.
