Recommended for Parents/Caregivers/Grandparents and youth aged ten and up, this session covers the global issue of bullying, as well as cyberbullying within the Canadian context. The presentation highlights warning signs for if someone is experiencing cyberbullying behaviours, and the steps to take if you are a victim of cyberbullying behaviours.

The presentation also explores sextortion, explaining how it occurs, key apps you should be aware of, the role of artificial intelligence in this issue, as well as the necessary steps to take if you are a target of sextortion. We will discuss the role of video games for both cyberbullying and sextortion as well.

By understanding these issues and applying proactive strategies, individuals and families can create safer online and offline environments.

Families will learn:

• What bullying and cyberbullying are and warning signs for if someone is experiencing this

• How to navigate cyberbullying behaviours

• The role of helpful versus hurtful bystanders and the necessity to report things we see or experience

• What sextortion is, how it can happen, and warning signs if someone is a victim of sextortion

• The role of video games and apps in cyberbullying and sextortion

• How to have tailored family conversations about cyberbullying and sextortion

• Important resources for families to utilize to ensure safety both online and offline
