Parkland Elementary

The last day of school for students was Thursday, June 25th, but staff will be hanging around a few extra days. The school will be closed after July 3rd until September 1st. If you need to contact someone over the summer, you can send an email to the principal Mr. Elson at melson@sd59.bc.ca or the general mailbox at parkland@sd59.bc.ca. Please allow 1-2 weeks for a response.

Planning to attend Parkland Elementary in September? Here's what you need to know!

If you haven't yet registered your student(s) with our school, please reach out for a registration package. You can call the school at 250-843-7777. If the date is between July 3 and August 31, it is better to reach us by sending an email to "parkland@sd59.bc.ca".

Students should come to school in September with a pair of clean, inside shoes and a re-useable water bottle. Students do not need to bring their own school supplies; the school will provide what they need. It is more economical for the school to purchase supplies in bulk from a wholesaler and charge school fees, rather than have families purchasing individual supplies at retail prices. This year, school fees will be $40 each for primary students (K to grade 3) and $50 each for intermediate students (grades 4-7).

The first day of school is Wednesday September 9th, 2026. This is a half day, which begins 2 hours later and ends 1 hour earlier than normal. If you are dropping your child off, plan to be at the school at 9:50am, when morning supervision begins and buses arrive. Class begins at 10:12am and ends at 12:58pm. Expect your child home off the bus one hour earlier than normal.

Regular school hours will resume on Thursday September 10th, 2026. Buses arrive and morning supervision begins at 7:50am. Please do not drop students off before this time. The school day is over at 1:58pm.

We look forward to the seeing you all for the new school year!

The school district's calendar is attached below, which shows all school and non-school days for the upcoming year.

If your child will:

  • not be at school
  • not be riding their regular bus
  • be riding a different bus
  • be picked up by someone other than a parent

Please let the school know by calling 250-843-7777 (leave a message) or emailing parkland@sd59.bc.ca. You can include your child's teacher on the email if you'd like. We will communicate relevant information to your child's bus driver at the end of the day, but it is always a good idea to also contact the bus garage (250-782-2106) or your driver directly.

Students often have questions about after school arrangements, and knowing your plan helps us help your child. If the school has not been made aware of other plans, your child will be send home on their regular bus.
