crescent Park Expansion Capital Project Update - November 2025

The Crescent Park Elementary School Expansion Project in nearing its final stages. The five classroom expansion was originally announced in December 2023 and will give the school much needed space as the school is operating at 163% over capacity. Several major components of the project still need to be completed (hydro upgrade, water and sewer service, ground work) along with interior finishes; the project is on track to be completed during the 2025-2026 school year.

Crescent Park Expansion Capital Project Update - October 2025

The Crecent Park Elementary School Expansion is coming along nicely. Work continues on the modulars that are in place, pricing for the new electrical kiosk has been received, civil plans have been sent to the City of Dawson Creek for approval, contractors met to finalize the plan for the fire alarm system, and the engineer sent civil plans out for pricing (third and final tender package).

Crescent Park Expansion Project-UPDATE-April 30, 2025

The following events have occurred since the March 12th report:

  • Fort Modular visited the site.
  • Director of Operations and Facilities Manager met with City planners and approvers to discuss the building permit timeline and process.
  • Building permit application submitted to the City.
  • City confirmed review of the modular portion of the project and expressed no code concerns.
  • Fort Modular has the Crescent Park Modular Addition scheduled to start construction in their factory mid-May 2025.
  • Force Engineering continues the preparation of the civil, foundation, earth works tender.

To date, $682,445 has been spent of the $9,200,000 budget.

Crescent Park Expansion Project Update - March 12, 2025

Since the last board meeting, Fort Modular, Force Engineering and SD59 project team met to discuss project timelines, building permits and interior finishes. A further consultants meeting was held to discuss and finalize structural, mechanical and electrical details in preparation for manufacturing.

Capital Project - Crescent Park Elementary School Expansion - January 22, 2025

Update as of January 22, 2025.

Since the December 16, 2024 Board Meeting the following have occurred:

  • Two addendums added to the posting on BC Bid.
  • Optional site visit for interested contractors of which two attended.
  • Closing date of tender extended to January 20, 2025 as per multiple contractors’ requests.

Capital Project - Crescent Park Elementary School Expansion - December 18, 2024

Update as of December 18, 2024

The Crescent Park Elementary School expansion project is moving along nicely.  The modular construction tender package has been posted on BC Bid and project update meetings have been held with the City of Dawson Creek and Ministry of Education and Child Care.

Tentative Schedule for Bid Process:
December 9, 2024 - Post on BC Bid 
December 19, 2024 - Bidders optional site visit 
January 6, 2025 – Tender close and award

Capital Project - Crescent Park Elementary School Expansion - October 23, 2024

Update as of October 23, 2024

•    October 2, 2024
Force Engineering met with Director of Facilities, Manager of Facilities and the Secretary-Treasurer to review complete set of plans. (mechanical, structural and electrical). The engineer will make a rendering of the front of the building and back to share with the school and community.

•    October 4-11, 2024
School District maintenance crew leaders, the Superintendent and the former Director of Facilities reviewed the draft plan and made a list of observations and questions to provide to the engineer for discussion and final design. Some items noted were: large retaining wall and drainage around the building

•    October 17, 2024
Engineer and Director of Facilities met to review the list of observations and questions above.
